01 · Artist Statement
Who I Am
My name is Oksana Pokutsa.
I was born and raised in Ukraine, where I began studying Petrykivka painting from an early age — a decorative folk tradition built on flowers, birds, flowing ornament, and the visual memory of generations.
When I emigrated to Israel, I carried this tradition with me — not as something preserved in the past, but as a living artistic practice capable of evolving, adapting, and speaking to the present.
02 · Artistic Language
What I Create
My work exists at the intersection of heritage and minimalism.
Rooted in the visual rhythms of Petrykivka painting, I gradually developed my own artistic language, which I call Folk Minimalism.
Traditional ornament is reduced, softened, and reimagined through textured contemporary surfaces — concrete, stone, plaster, and raw mineral finishes. Decorative forms become quieter, more restrained, and more architectural.
My paintings are not reproductions of folklore. They are conversations with cultural memory.
03 · Education
Education & Artistic Path
I received formal training in Petrykivka painting in Kyiv before continuing into higher education in art, design, and visual culture.
I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Art & Product Design and later completed a Master’s degree in Fashion Technology & Design Management at the National University of Technologies and Design in Kyiv.
After emigrating to Israel, I completed a teaching certification in Fine Arts at Oranim Academic College, accredited by the Israeli Ministry of Education.
